In this new series, we'll tell you why to visit the area each month. If you're thinking about planning a last-minute getaway to the area this June, you'll be glad you did when you see these nine reasons to visit Charleston in June.

1. Spoleto Festival USA
For 17 days and nights every year, the Spoleto Festival takes over Charleston's most historic and beautiful venues and dazzles guests with performances of all genres. Spoleto is now in its 40th season and is recognized internationally as America's premier performing arts festival. Spoleto Festival runs through the second week in June. Since the festival takes place all over the area, you'll never be far from an event at an Island Realty home.

2. Piccolo Spoleto
The perfect complement to the international scope of Spoleto Festival USA, Piccolo Spoleto focuses primarily on artists of the Southeast region in performing, literary, and visual arts. Running concurrently with Spoleto Festival USA, it's an incredible opportunity to truly immerse yourself in the culture of the South through performances, demonstrations, activities, and displays.

3. Adventure

Kiddos have a lot of energy since school ended? We've got the perfect thing(s)! From surf fishing to offshore fishing charterskayak tours to sunset cruises, cooking classes to family portrait sessions, you never have to have a dull moment on an Island Realty vacation. We'll help you set up anything you want to do; we can't wait to hear all about it!

4. Riverdogs Baseball
You'll never have less than a stellar time at a Charleston Riverdogs game! The team, the minor league affiliate of the New York Yankees, plays at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, fondly called "The Joe" after Charleston's longest-serving mayor. The team is always stacked with great players. But, even if baseball isn't your thing, you'll flip for the incredible waterfront views from the park and, of course, the ballpark food! From drinks (sweet tea vodka and lemonade, dollar beers, and alcoholic milkshakes, among others) to food (soft pretzel pizzas, bacon-wrapped corndogs, mac and cheese tacos, etc), plan to go, but don't plan to stick to your diet.

5. Wedding Season
We bet you have a wedding (or ten) to attend this summer. Don't go to a destination wedding and leave without seeing the destination! If you're coming for a wedding in Charleston, spend the week with us. After all that dancing, you're going to want to kick your heels up on the beach!

6. Sweetgrass Festival
You can't walk through the Historic Charleston Market without coming upon gorgeous handcrafted Sweetgrass baskets. At the Sweetgrass Festival you'll find the largest display of these baskets in the Lowcountry. You'll also learn about the history of the Gullah Geechee culture and have the opportunity to see the important contributions made to America by the African Americans who settled in South Carolina's coastal communities.

7. Party at the Point
Charleston's favorite outdoor concert series takes place every Friday night in June and features live music on the sand in Charleston Harbor. You'll mingle with visitors and locals alike as you listen to incredible bands, sip drinks from the Tiki Hut, and take in the stunning views of downtown Charleston, the harbor, and the USS Yorktown, docked right next to the venue.

8. Food, food, food
Seafood? Check. Barbecue? Check. Grits, biscuits, burgers? Check, check, check. Y'all, you'll never leave a Charleston vacation hungry. Got a specific food in mind? Our concierge would love to make a recommendation.

9. Sunshine!

With an average high of 85 degrees, what better time could there be to hit the beach?! It's summer vacation, so come soak up the sun with us! You'll also want to hit up a rooftop bar, an outdoor brunch, and the porch of your own beach house to catch those rays. Pack some sunscreen and come on down!
