Beauty is all around us. Whether you admire Earth's mountains and valleys or find the depths of the big blue ocean amazing, every living and nonliving thing is what makes up our planet. On this day, we want to celebrate our planet's environment and raise awareness on how to keep it clean! Happy Earth Day, 2017!
The locals and visitors of the Lowcountry appreciate the natural beauty and environment of the Charleston area and its surrounding beaches. Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island have a lot to offer visitors and look best when kept clean. While visiting the area, there are many ways you can help prevent pollution during your stay. Isle of Palms provides trashcans all around the beach. Local recycling centers are located on Mount Pleasant...this is a great resource to use throughout your trip or at the end of your trip to throw away all excess waste.
In reference to a new study by the Post and Courier this week, the Charleston area (southeast region) contains some of the cleanest air in the country. This is exciting news! Whether you are a local or you are visiting Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island for vacation, there are many ways you can contribute to help keep our environment clean while you are visiting:
- Enjoy walking around the islands. Driving your car can add carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to the environment.
- Use a reusable water bottle while you are relaxing on the beach.
- While you are visiting us, enjoy our local farmers markets. This is a great spot to purchase locally grown or organic food.
- After your day on the beach, always clean up. There are multiple trashcans placed out all over the beach to throw away your day's trash.
