For the next 4 weeks we will be posting a throwback Thursday image of Island Realty and our beautiful community to celebrate our 40 years in business! We would love for all of our previous guests and fellow Isle of Palms lovers to join in on the opportunity to post a throwback image of one of their vacation experiences with Island Realty for a chance to win a 3 night stay in an Isle of Palms condo!
Each year we have guests that visit us from all around the world and we are so excited to see what memories everyone has made here on the islands through each throwback picture! We appreciate the trust you have instilled in the Island Realty team. Our goal has always been to provide you with the services and help needed to have the ultimate vacation experience!
From July 27 through August 17th (it doesn't have to be posted just on Thursday's...you can post on any day of the week to be considered eligible) post any throwback picture of your trip to Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island.
Every entry should include the following for a chance to win:
- Photo must have been taken on/before July 26, 2017
- Must be posted on your Facebook or Instagram from July 27 - August 17, 2017
- Must be set on Sullivan's Island and/or Isle of Palms
- Caption should include where and when the photo was taken
- Must include the hashtags: #40yearsoffuninthesun #islandrealty
- Tag Island Realty on the social media platform you post your picture
- Must be following Island Realty on the social media platform you use for entry

The winner will be randomly selected and announced on August 18th at 3:00 p.m. Once you post your throwback image, your name will be placed in the drawing for a chance to win a 3 night stay in a beach condo. We'd love to see as many pictures as you would like to share - you will be entered once for each picture with a maximum of 3 entries per person.
History of Island Realty:
Island Realty can trace its roots back to the 1950s when J.C. Long began developing and building homes on Isle of Palms. As part of these endeavors, Mr. Long hired Al Johnson to handle home rentals. Mr. Johnson eventually opened his own company, Al Johnson Realty, which listed, sold, and managed real estate on Isle of Palms for many years. Around 1976, the Johnson's sold the company to Carol and Bill Walters, who changed the name to Island Realty.
One year later, the Walters were approached to develop and manage sales operations for the newly constructed Isle of Palms Beach and Racquet Club (now known as Wild Dunes) at the north end of the Isle of Palms. The Walters asked Don Stone (Alexander D. Stone Jr.) if he would list and sell Island Realty in 1977. Don saw potential in the company and took the opportunity presented by the Walters. He not only accepted the offer to sell Island Realty, but also ended up purchasing and managing the operation himself. Under Don's management, Island Realty grew from a small "mom and pop" business to one of the premier operations in the community.
In 1978, Sandy (Alexander D. Stone III) joined Island Realty as a maintenance man, earning his real estate and broker licenses concurrently. Sandy, Peggy, Missy and David Crosby managed alongside Don until 1993. That year, Sandy, Missy, and their spouses purchased Island Realty from their parents. At that time Island Realty had developed into a thriving business with more than 50 local employees and 20 realtors. In 2000, Sandy and Peggy purchased David and Missy's shares of Island Realty. Since then, the company has continued to grow, establishing multiple business units alongside the 300 properties in the Vacation Rental Program.
These additional ventures include Long-Term Rentals, Homeowner's Association and Regime Management, and a full-service cleaning and maintenance division called Isle Clean It. In 2006, Island Realty dissolved its sales division and welcomed the Charleston Islands branch of Keller Williams brokerage to lease offices at Island Realty's headquarters. A true family operation, owners Sandy and Peggy's eldest son, Alexander D. Stone IV (Alex) serves as the company's General Manager, while youngest son, Eric, has worked his way up into his current role of Owner Representative Manager. The Stones have always worked under the "neighbor" mentality, believing that being a contributing member to the communities they serve is equally as important to the services provided. Sandy and Peggy largely credit their success to strong relationships with property owners and the community, as well as providing "the vacation of a lifetime" to all of Island Realty's guests.
Up to 3 images will be eligible for entry per person. To be considered eligible to win the contest, you must incorporate all 7 components required for each photo submission. Winner will be randomly selected from the entries. Photos considered eligible to win the contest can only be taken on Isle of Palms and/or Sullivan's Island. By submitting your photo for the contest, you authroize Island Realty to use the photo for any and all purposes including marketing materials, print pieces, online and so on. Only photos with appropriate subject matter and acceptable per the terms of use of Facebook and/or Instagram will be eligible. The poster must own the rights to the image.
